Janette Hvistendahl joined the “Kevin Taylor Art Group” in 2009, shortly after retiring to the Gold Coast from Sydney.
Janette started drawing in early childhood, but did not tackle painting until the late 1980’s. Her aim was to become reasonably proficient in watercolours by retirement age, and then learn about oil painting. She took classes in drawing and watercolour at the Julian Ashton school and other art venues in the Sydney area.
She paints at a professional level in a modern impressionistic style, constantly seeking self-improvement. While she feels inspired by the Australian tonal painters of the Max Meldrum school, she prefers to combine painting with drawing, and strives to capture the feeling and mood of light.
Janette won First Prize oil / acrylic 2011 and Best in Show 2012 at the Elanora Uniting Church art show. She also exhibits in NSW, and has sold numerous works.
